USA For Africa’s “We Are The World” set the tone for Dr. Diane West’s boat parade entry. Aboard Sister Moon (a 35-foot Cal Cruising sailboat), she and her crew fully embraced the parade’s theme, Christmas Around the World, by spotlighting eight countries in their personal fashions (The Philippines, Vietnam, Spain, France, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Japan and the United States), and 20 countries in their display of national flags. The boat’s mast, capped with a large sparkling star and adorned with a giant banner of earth and a glittering, 7-foot tall angel; centered the message of Peace on Earth and highlighted the fact that no matter where you’re from, we are all neighbors on this planet. Over the years, Dr. West has won the Music Award and the Spirit Award… now she can add First Place to her list boat parade accolades!
